“Living Traditions” (carpets and beyond - open call deadline 15 May 2026)
“Living Traditions”
Gallery Palazzo Mandrilli, Cassine, (AL), Italy
Weaving and decorative arts are one of the most valuable areas of Azerbaijani national culture, which has been shaped over the centuries and is still alive today. These art forms are not only considered a heritage of the past, but are also a living form of creativity that is connected to everyday life and modern thinking. Directions such as carpets, tapestries, kurama, felting and batik, being passed down from generation to generation, maintain their relevance and gain new opportunities for expression. This exhibition highlights the continuity of traditional craftsmanship and how it lives on in a modern context. The works presented here are perceived as a visual language that combines both a commitment to the roots and a modern vision. The goal is to show that decorative arts are an ever-present and evolving field.
